Anonymous gun buyback scheduled for showgrounds in Santa Barbara

State of New Jersey

The Central Coast's first ever gun buyback program is set for the morning of Saturday, June 14 at the Earl Warren Showgrounds Car Park.

The event is put on by the Coalition Against Gun Violence in cooperation with the Santa Barbara Police Department.

In exchange for handguns, shotguns, and rifles, gun owners will receive a $100 Von's Supermarket gift card. A $200 card is the exchange rate for assault weapons.

The gun buyback is anonymous with no questions asked according to the organizers.

"Gun owners should place their functioning, unloaded weapon(s) in the trunk of their vehicle and enter Earl Warren Showgrounds off of Calle Real," the coalition's website states. "Police officers will direct you from there."
