The deadline for Isla Vista voters to cast their ballot in that district’s May 9 special election is Tuesday at 8 p.m. The all-mail ballot election is for the Isla Vista Recreation and Park District.

The park district is asking Isla Vista voters to pass a new tax for the next ten years to make park improvements. If passed, Isla Vista property owners will pay an extra $30 per bedroom on residential parcels and .72 cents per square foot for non-residential units.

If you are a registered voter in Isla Vista and haven’t received a ballot, go to the Santa Barbara Elections Office on Calle Real. The office is open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, election day.

“Eligible citizens residing in the Isla Vista Recreation and Park District still have the option to participate. Under California Election Law, conditional voter registration allows a prospective voter to conditionally register and cast a provisional ballot,” Santa Barbara County Registrar of Voters Joe Holland wrote in an email blast Monday. “Conditional voter registration and provisional voting is only available at the Santa Barbara Elections Office located at 4440-A Calle Real and must be completed in person.”

Holland’s office said semi-official results will be posted online by 8:05 p.m. on election night. Find those under the ‘upcoming elections’ tab at www.sbcvote.com.
