Tsunami threat following 8.0 magnitude quake in Alaska

NOAA lifted its tsunami advisory around 4:45 p.m. PDT.

California emergency officials are saying—at this point—there is no cause for tsunami concern along our state's coastline following a magnitude 8 earthquake in Alaska.

The temblor hit about 1:45 p.m. PDT near Little Sitkin Island, part of the Aleutian chain.

There are tsunami warnings however for neighboring islands to the east and west of the epicenter.
