An unarmed Minuteman III, an intercontinental ballistic missile, or ICBM, is scheduled to launch Tuesday between 3:45 and 9:45 in the morning.

It is a test launch for the Air Force Global Strike Command weapon system.

Officials at Vandenberg say that while ICBM launches almost seem routine at this point, they still require a large amount of effort and attention to detail to make the test successful.
