Thomashefsky!" and Laurie Lewis joins Garrison on "Ripple."  In Lake Wobegon, texting disrupts a choir concert.

Bob Edwards Weekend… Bob has a conversation with novelist Roddy Doyle about his book titled The Guts.  It offers an update on the characters Doyle first introduced nearly three decades ago in his debut novel The Commitments.

Ransom Riggs is a writer and filmmaker whose 2011 book "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children" landed on the New York Times bestseller list and stayed there for the next 63 weeks.  His new sequel is Hollow City.

In late 2004, Sonali Deraniyagala was vacationing in her native Sri Lanka with her parents, husband and their two sons.  A tsunami swept the family away, killing all but Deraniyagala.  After years of depression and suicidal thoughts, she's been able to process the tragedy and has written a book about her experiences.  Wave is now out in paperback, and was an Amazon and New York Times Best Book of 2013.

Song Travels…Wayne Brady became a star improvising on the popular TV show Whose Line Is It Anyway?  The singer/actor/dancer/comedian has also appeared on stage in Rent and Chicago and hosts the TV game show Let’s Make a Deal.  Brady discusses the musical influence of Sammy Davis, Jr. and Sam Cooke.  With pianist Cat Gray, Brady performs the Cooke classic “You Send Me” and Feinstein joins him in a duet of “It’s Only a Paper Moon.”

  • Marisa Waddell talks with two women who seek the highest potential in themselves and aim to help others find the courage to do the same.  Laura Grace is the founder of the upcoming Central Coast Annual Women's Symposium, and Dr. Joan Borysenko is its keynote speaker.  She's an internationally-renowned speaker and consultant in women's health and spirituality, integrative medicine, and the mind-body connection.  The topic of this year's symposium is Saying Yes to Change: Essential Wisdom for Your Journey.
  • Swimming is as helpful in many ways for dogs as it is for humans.  Canine swim coach Chris Barrett shares with Donna Cheek her passion for helping dogs gain confidence, recover from injury and just plain have a fun splashing good time.
  • Marci Powers is a retired Ventura County probation officer.  She is leading SLO County’s Anti-Gang Coordinating Commission and will talk about issues involving gang activity, incarceration, and re-entry into our community.

KCBX in Concert...Host Jill Anderson interviews John Knutson, Director of Choral Music at Cuesta College.  They will chat about the choirs’ upcoming European tour, and feature recordings by two of the colleges choral ensembles:  Chamber Choir and Voce.  John will also bring two students to the interview who will share their excitement about the tour and their musical careers at Cuesta.  Music will include everything from Monteverdi and Palestrina to vocal jazz!
