Local government roundup: 02/27/2017

On Central Coast local government agendas this week, the San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors will considerissuing construction bids for repairs of county roads, and revisit cannabis regulation in the county and tweaks to a draft ordinance.

Also on the agenda is consideration of a new $13 million dollar animal shelter, the construction costs of which will be split between the cities of seven county cities. The plan calls for the demolition of the current county animal shelter building on Oklahoma Blvd. in San Luis Obispo.

In Santa Barbara County, the board of supervisors will look at spending an additional $800,000 through mid-summer on contracts with providers of temporary psychiatrists and other staffers to work for the county’s department of behavioral wellness.

The board will also consider signing a $100,000 contract for a master plan studyon the drainage of Mission Canyon, as well as authorize work on the Mission Creek storm drain project.

In conjunction with the county sheriff’s office, the board will hold a hearing on changes to the county’s outdoor festival laws that will affect the annual Deltopia event in Isla Vista.

And the board will consider signing off on a $37 million dollar contractto provide medical, pharmaceutical and mental health services to county inmates and parolees over the next 5 years. This week’s Monterey County Board of Supervisors meeting is canclled.
