Police have arrested a man suspected of shooting and injuring six people late Saturday night at Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area in San Luis Obispo County. There were no fatalities in the shooting incident.

19-year-old Francisco Orozco of Oakland, California was arrested Sunday on charges of attempted murder.

The county sheriff’s office is leading the investigation, and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Grace Norris says State Parks received 911 calls about shots fired around midnight. CalFire SLO first responders provided initial treatment to six people, who were then transported to local hospitals. Norris says sheriff deputies are still collecting evidence and interviewing people at the scene, and that the department believes the shooting was “an isolated incident.” Early reports mentioned five victims, but according to a release published by Norris at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, six people were injured.

The park remains open to day visitors and campers.

The Sheriff’s Office is asking for information on the shooting, which can be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling (805) 549-STOP (7867) or through the website www.slotips.org.
