Court confirms sale of some Central Coast Haggen locations, more throughout region

Jordan Bell, KCBX News

A large grocery chain that struggled to get a foothold on the Central Coast announced Wednesday several of its stores are now sold.

The U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware approved separate purchase agreements of 25 Haggen stores in California, including three Central Coast locations.

Last month, the company that owns Haggen grocery stores received permission to sell off 100 stores, including those in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties.

As of Wednesday, Albertsons bought two Haggen locations one in Goleta, the other in Lompoc. Sprouts Farmers Market also purchased a store in Goleta.

The Court also confirmed the sale of 22 stores in Arizona, Washington, Oregon and Nevada, most of which were purchased by Albertsons. Each of the purchases remain contingent upon certain conditions.
