Daily nonstop service between Seattle and San Luis Obispo starting next spring

Alaska Airlines
The year-round service will be operated by SkyWest Airlines using Embraer E175 jets, which are similar to a 737 according to Alaska Airlines.

Daily nonstop service between San Luis Obispo (SBP) and Seattle (SEA) will start next spring according to Alaska Airlines and several San Luis Obispo County leaders.

Local business representatives and San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport management have been working for months to expand nonstop service destinations for Central Coast travelers.

"The community welcomes Alaska Airlines and eagerly anticipates service to Seattle," said Kevin Bumen, director of airports for the County. "This new route will provide a vital link between the Pacific Northwest and the Central Coast for business and tourism."

The airline offered the following information regarding the new daily schedule, slated to begin April, 13, 2017.

  • SEA - Departs 8 a.m. - Arrives 10:28 a.m.
  • SBP - Departs 12 p.m. - Arrives 2:35 p.m.

Tickets became available for purchase on Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
The new service will roughly coincide with a terminal expansion project at SBP. The County broke ground on the project in October 2015 and at the time estimated an 18-month timeline for completion.

Local options for Central Coast air travelers have increased in recent weeks. Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) announced the addition of nonstop service to Dallas back on June 2, increasing its dominance in the number of nonstop destinations.
