December 12, 2012: Steven DeLuque and Crissa Hewitt bring you another Ears on Art with part two of their tribute to Myron and Priscilla Graham. This husband and wife team were instrumental in shaping the cultural life of the Central Coast through their active participation as civic leaders and steady supporters of the visual and performing arts.

November 11, 2012: Crissa Hewitt visits with Marjorie Schick, a metal-smithing professor at Pittsburg State University in Kansas. Schick's colorful, often whimsical creative work has set trends in the jewelry world for decades. She describes her art as "sculpture to wear."

October 10, 2012: Explore the world of the visual arts with Crissa Hewitt and Stephen DeLuque on Ears on Art. Steven and Crissa continue their conversation with Morro Bay artist Philip Carey. Besides creating visual depictions of his dreams, Carey loves to collect. A 14x8 foot wall in his living room is covered with a very colorful presentation of neckties. Two tables display hand polished rocks under glass. Stacks of labeled boxes speak to many of the other items that he has collected over time. A You Tube video is available with a search for Philip Carey artist.

October 3, 2012: Explore the world of the visual arts with Crissa Hewitt and Stephen DeLuque on Ears on Art. Steven and Crissa have a conversation with Philip Carey, whose art consists largely of pencil drawings inspired by his dreams.

September 12, 2012: Steven and Crissa visit with Deb Spatafore and Beryl Reichenberg who are part of a four person exhibit at Frameworks Gallery through September. Both women are multifaceted in their use of materials and subject matter.

September 5, 2012: Explore the world of visual arts with Crissa Hewitt and Stephen DeLuque on Ears on Art. Steven and Crissa visit with Julie Frankel and Meryl Perloff, two local artists whose work is currently on exhibit at Frameworks Gallery in San Luis Obispo. Julie and Meryl each have a love of detail and each explores her creativity through a variety of materials and processes.

August 8, 2012: Crissa Hewitt and Steven DeLuque continue their conversation with local ceramic artist and teacher Bob Nichols. Bob has been instrumental in helping to form community arts programs that paved the way for improving the quality and visibility of the arts on the Central Coast.

May 2, 2012:Steven and Crissa visit with Chet and Guyla Amyx, two long-time instructors at Cuesta College and two long-time artists on the Central Coast. Chet is known primarily for his painting and Guyla for her work with clay.

April 11, 2012: This week Crissa and Steven talk with Michael Reddell, the mastermind behind the Phantom Project happening in San Luis Obispo County. This ephemeral gallery project makes use of vacant commercial space to display juried exhibits. The second of these is coming soon, and the concept is intriguing. Join us to hear how you might become involved, how it works -- and where the next one will be.

April 4, 2012: Steven and Crissa celebrate the 13th anniversary of the show, and focus on some underlying themes: thought about the nature of the creative process and its univserality; when do interviewees become aware of their creative interest; and, how does education in the arts enrich problem-solving skills in life.

March 14, 2012: We continue our exploration of the world of quilting with a visit to Atascadero to visit with Jeanne Aird and Kathy Howard. Both of these women create art quilts. Jeanne's are small wall pieces and Kathy's are wearable art.

March 7, 2012:Crissa and Steven travel to Arroyo Grande for a visit with Andi Perejda. This artist spans the spectrum from creating traditional quilts to those that she designs that are quite contemporary. The latter are referred to as "art quilts" and are normally meant to hang on a wall. The age old process of hand stitching a quilt to develop low relief texture is something that Andi does beautifully.

February 8, 2012: Steven and Crissa continue their visit with Douglas and Kathy DePalma. Over several decades, Doug has traveled extensively, especially in the Far East. His art collection from these years is impressive and beautiful. Kathy has a large collection of work by painting teacher and friend Arne Nybak, as well as many Guatemalan textiles and some works by local artists.

February 1, 2012: This week Crissa Hewitt visits Kathy DePalma at her studio in Morro Bay. Kathy does intricate assemblages of forms that she creates using paper mache. We will be discussing her work with specific attention to her series, "The Circus." The work will be on display the month of March in the McMeen Gallery at the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art. The opening reception will take place March 2nd from 6-8pm.

January 11, 2012: Part 2 of a 2-part rebroadcast from February 2006; a visit with artist and educator Marvin Harden. Working two-dimensionally, he draws, does printmaking, and paints. After 30 years as a professor at Cal State Northridge, he retired to a home that he built on the Central Coast.
