Efforts in SLO to Build a Homeless Service Center

At last count,2,186 homeless individuals were living in the County of San Luis Obispo. Although this number is only slightly up from 2011, more than 86% of SLO residents reported being either “very” or “somewhat” concerned about homelessness in their community in a 2013 survey by ACTION for Healthy Communities.

Efforts to build a new Homeless Service Center in San Luis Obispo County are gaining momentum, yet these plans are not without a number of questions and concerns. Fred Munroe talks with Grace McIntosh, Deputy Director with CAPSLO, John Spatafore with the Homeless Foundation, and Jerry Rioux, Executive Director with the Housing Trust Fund about the latest on this issue.

Central Coast Voices is sponsored by ACTION for Healthy Communities in collaboration with KCBX.

Fred Munroe is a co-host of the KCBX talk show Central Coast Voices, heard every Thursday afternoon from 1:00-2:00. Fred has successfully divided his time as a local entrepreneur, political leader, and communicator. He owns and manages two local firms addressing personal travel planning and public transportation; Travel With Fred and Ridership Development Consultants.
