Haggen, Fresh & Easy workers to get help finding new jobs

Jordan Bell, KCBX News

Hundreds of workers set to be laid off by closing grocery stores on the Central Coast will get help later this week and next in finding new jobs.

San Luis Obispo County's Workforce Development Board has two career fairs scheduled in the coming days to address those affected by Haggen and Fresh and Easy closures.

The board is working in collaboration with America's Job Center of California.

The fairs will be open to the public, but the laid off grocery workers will get exclusive access for an hour in the morning.

An estimated 400 local grocery employees were affected by Haggen's departure from the Central Coast.

DETAILS:

  • North County Career Fair, Atascadero Pavilion on the Lake Thursday, November 12. 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • South County Career Fair, Grover Beach Ramona Gardens Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • NOTE: Anyone affected by the Haggen or Fresh & Easy closures—or any recent business closure—will gain early access to each fair beginning at 10:00 a.m.
