Paso Robles ready to initiate new water restrictions for home owners

New water restrictions are set to go into effect on May 15 in the City of Paso Robles, targeting outdoor water uses including residential landscaping. New restrictions are an extension of ongoing watering restrictions that have been in place in the city.

Paso is currently divided into two watering zones and watering is permitted three days per week for each zone. New restrictions will further limit watering to 2 days per week in each zone: The north side of town will have watering days on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and those living on the south side of town can water on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The dividing line for the two sides is 13th St., Creston, Sherwood and Linne.

All irrigation for landscaping will be prohibited on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, no matter where in the city you live. Watering will continue to be banned from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

The new requirements are part of the city's Level II water shortage declaration and response to new state conservation requirements, approved this week in an effort to meet with the state's conservation mandate.

In order to enforce the guidelines, the city will have staff checking the neighborhoods, according to Kirk Gonzalez, the Paso Robles Water Conservation Manager. He also says the City will continue to respond to reports from residents on suspected violations of the City's conservation requirements.
