Performing Arts on the Central Coast

Broadcast date: 10/27/16

Few would deny the critical role that arts play in developing a vibrant and strong community. They have a crucial impact on our economy, and are vital to stimulating our creativity. In 2013, we found that almost half (43%) of ACTION survey respondents reported that they attended a music, dance or theater performance in the last month and that half of survey respondents were concerned about access to cultural opportunities in their community. These data illustrate the importance of the arts in our community.

Join host Fred Munroe as he speaks with Steven Lerian, Director of Cal Poly Arts and Bruce Howard, President with Otter Productions, Inc. as they share their experience and perspectives on performing arts on the Central Coast, talk about how the market has changed over the years, review upcoming opportunities, and discuss the values and benefits of performing arts programs.

Central Coast Voices is sponsored by ACTION for Healthy Communities in collaboration with KCBX and made possible through underwriting by Joan Gellert-Sargen.

Fred Munroe is a co-host of the KCBX talk show Central Coast Voices, heard every Thursday afternoon from 1:00-2:00. Fred has successfully divided his time as a local entrepreneur, political leader, and communicator. He owns and manages two local firms addressing personal travel planning and public transportation; Travel With Fred and Ridership Development Consultants.
