Programming changes coming to KCBX starting September First

Our dear friend John Pillow, who has hosted The Classical World on KCBX every Monday night for the past 16 years is moving on. His last show will be Monday, August 27. John's departure has spurred quite a few programming adjustments on KCBX, both on Mondays and Saturdays, beginning on September 1.  Below you will find a program grid that shows the changes.

On Monday evening, Pacific Standard Time, which airs jazz standards and music from the Great American Songbook, will expand by half an hour. Starting on September 3, you can hear it from 6:30 to 8:00 each Monday night.

Freedom Jazz Dance with Rick Mathews will move from Saturday afternoon to Monday night. You will now be able to hear it from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. each Monday, beginning on September 3.

On Saturday, Janelle Younger's Broken Spoke Folk Show is moving into the old Freedom Jazz Dance slot. You will be able to hear it on Saturday afternoon from noon to 3:00, starting on September 1.

Live From Here with Chris Thile will move earlier by two hours. Its new spot is Saturday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 beginning September 1.

The Celtic music program from NPR, The Thistle and Shamrock with Fiona Ritchie will return to KCBX on Saturday, September 1. It will broadcast from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. each week.

Finally, the Evening Blues, Night Train and Jazz Overnight are all moving earlier by one hour each Saturday, starting on September 1.  You can tune in to the Evening Blues from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., the Night Train from 9:00 to midnight, and Jazz Overnight will begin at midnight.
