Rain remains in the Central Coast forecast for Friday, chances improving

National Weather Service

The Central Coast is expected to see the strongest rain event of the season this Friday afternoon into Saturday morning as a fast moving cold front heads toward the area.

Bonnie Bartling is with the National Weather Service in Oxnard and says rain totals along the Central Coast will be more significant the farther north you go.

"North of Point Conception we actually have higher amounts and south of Point Conception we're looking at maybe a tenth of an inch to maybe a quarter of an inch," said Bartling. "Next week we'll be back to another high pressure ridge, so we seem to be going back and forth."

Some areas of the northern San Luis Obispo County coast could see as much as an inch of rain from this system.
