San Luis Obispo County offering free flu vaccinations on Sunday

San Luis Obispo County is offering free flu vaccinations this coming Sunday at a couple of locations.

The Public Health Department expects it to be one of the largest single-day clinics in county history with up to 2000 people receiving a shot. Michelle Shoresman is helping to organize the event and says if you didn't think you're in the group of those who should get the shot you might think again:

“The Center for Discease Control’s recommendations on who should be vaccinated, over the years since the H1N1 pandemic, they have gradually made that pool of people that they recommend getting vaccinated, larger and larger," said Shoresman. "Now they recommend that almost everybody get a seasonal flu vaccine. "

There will be two clinics on Sunday from 1 to 4 in the afternoon at South County Regional Center in Arroyo Grande and Colony Park Community Center in Atascadero.

Santa Barbara County is also planning free vaccinations in Lompoc and Goleta but those won't take place until early December. County Health says the likely days will be December 3rd and 6th with an estimated 600 people participating.
