SLO Brew hopes to include large, live entertainment area at 'The Rock'

The San Luis Obispo Planning Commission is reviewing a request by a local brewery to allow live indoor and outdoor entertainment near the airport.

SLO Brew is modifying its business plan for its additional location called SLO Brew at 'The Rock' to include live music in addition to its beer production and tasting room facilities.

Now the developers are seeking to change the zoning to allow for live entertainment. Hamish Marshall is the owner of SLO Brew and said it would allow for larger concerts than at the downtown location.

"For us the music isn't going away, it's changing. It should be changing absolutely for the better, because we're going to have the opportunity to bring in different acts that we haven't had the capability of doing before," said Marshall.

The Planning Commission is expected to make a recommendation Wednesday, which will head to City Council for a final decision.
