ORIGINAL STORY

A 33-year-old San Luis Obispo man was arrested Monday night, suspected of torturing a woman earlier in the evening at his home in the Highland Drive neighborhood.

Timothy Hayes is accused of using tape to bound the 27-year-old victim before assaulting her with a knife, scissors, a pool que-stick. He's also suspected of burning her with kitchen utensils.

The victim told police the assault lasted for about two hours before she was able to escape and make her way to a nearby gas station.

Officers say the victim had significant injuries covering her entire body.

Investigators say they searched Hayes' home and found evidence that could be related to the assault, as well as a handgun and high-power rifle.
