Vice President Joe Biden's video message for UCSB graduates

Vice President Joe Biden has issued a special video statement for UC Santa Barbara's graduating class of 2014, which was sent to all students and some 21,000 alumni.

The message is in response to a MoveOn.org petition created by outgoing senior Kyley Scarlet, the Internal Vice President for the Associated Students, who was pulling for a commencement address by First Lady Michelle Obama.

"I know that wherever you go, whatever you do, you'll continue to show the world what it means to be 'IV strong,'" said Biden. "Congratulations to all of this year's graduates and my God bless the entire UC Santa Barbara community, I wish you all the best of luck."

Congresswoman Lois Capps and her daughter Laura helped organize the Vice President's response and thanked him for the effort, saying "it means a lot to our community to have him voice his support."

"This video means a lot to me," said Scarlet. "It offers hope for change."
