Update: Skydiver critically injured in Lompoc

The skydiver hurt in an incident on Monday is now in stable condition at Cottage Hospital's trauma center, according to David Hughes, owner of Skydive Santa Barbara.
The parachutist from the Los Angeles area was scheduled for surgery sometime on Thursday.
He collided with the H Street Bridge in Lompoc, missing the nearby landing area Skydive Santa Barbara operates at the Lompoc Airport.
No word yet on what caused the man to veer off course.

A skydiver was being treated for life-threatening injuries Monday afternoon at the Cottage Hospital Trauma Center in Santa Barbara.
The Lompoc Fire Department says the skydiver hit the H Street Bridge, just north of the Lompoc Airport around 11:00 a.m. Monday. The bridge is where Highway 1 crosses the Santa Ynez River.
The Santa Barbara Independent reported Tuesday morning that the victim was from the Los Angeles area and had jumped out of a plane operated by Skydive Santa Barbara.
The parachutist was first taken to Lompoc Valley Medical Center and then flown by helicopter to the trauma center in Santa Barbara.
