Off-highway vehicle riding across the sand dunes and beach at Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area on the Central Coast will continue as is, at least for now. The California Coastal Commission has voted to continue the conversation for another year, with eight of the ten commissioners in favor of sending a letter to California State Parks, asking that several issues within the park be addressed by that agency between now and summer of 2020.

The badly damaged Cayucos Pier is in line for a major makeover, and that process could start up relatively soon.

The San Luis Obispo County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to vote Tuesday on whether to approve a $1.7 million bid to demolish and reconstruct a large portion of that pier.

The bid was submitted by the Morro Bay-based company Associated Pacific Constructors, Inc., and a yes vote is recommended by the county's General Services Agency.

Santa Barbara County investigators are working to figure out who killed a person whose body was found Tuesday morning near the entrance to Guadalupe Beach.

"The victim was determined to be deceased and the death is considered to be a homicide," a report sent to media outlets by the sheriff's office Tuesday afternoon stated.

The department said that a group of field workers found the body "of a heavy-set Hispanic person, on the side of the road, face down in the dirt" just before 7 a.m.

That person was identified as 37-year-old Javier Alcantar Limon of Santa Maria.
