Cal Poly students weigh fall housing options

Both incoming and current students at San Luis Obispo’s Cal Poly university are looking at their living situation for next school year, and the promise of fewer virtual classes in the fall.

The California State University system announced classes are likely to be held in-person for the fall of 2021, but hasn’t released official plans.

As an outdoor activity, Central Coast pumpkin patches are able to welcome visitors over the next month. 

Jennifer Bennett, an Atascadero mother of two, was one of the first customers at Avila Valley Barn Monday morning. 

“I’m a stay-at-home mom," Bennett said. "Being home with these two all the time has been really hard without being able to take them to do anything.”

She’s excited the pumpkin patch—along with the goats, cows and chickens to visit and feed—are open.  

Downtown SLO

After 44 years, the organization Downtown SLO is canceling the city’s annual holiday parade due to COVID-19 concerns. But the group has some other ideas on keeping the holiday spirit alive.

What will student learning look like when the new school year starts? The San Luis Coastal Unified School District this week laid out different pandemic-prompted scenarios for how the district’s 7,500 students will attend classes in the fall.
