Mindbody is a health and wellness technology company headquartered in San Luis Obispo, with offices in Santa Maria and around the world. While the current stay-at-home situation may be good for some tech companies, like Zoom, for Mindbody this is not the case. On Thursday, the company announced it is laying off or furloughing thirty-five percent of its workforce.

The billion dollar deal that puts San Luis Obispo's MindBody in the hands of a San Francisco  investment company is finalized. The health and wellness tech company filed its final documents with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commision on February 15, and is now under the ownership of Vista Equity Partners.

MindBody CEO Rick Stollmeyer—who founded the company 19 years ago—has been tight-lipped on the deal until it went though. But Friday morning, Stollmeyer stopped into the KCBX studios to talk about the merger.

Mindbody is a large health and fitness tech company headquartered in San Luis Obispo. It recently scored a pretty big name for its annual Bold Conference, an industry event for fitness, beauty and wellness business owners and professionals. The conference's keynote speaker will be former first lady Michelle Obama.
