Fort Gaines Historic Site on Daughin Island, Alabama was etched in to the annals of Civil War history as the site of the Battle of Mobile Bay where Union Naval Admiral Farragot shouted the legendary order, “Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead.”

Today Fort Gaines is a historic site along the Gulf Coast.

Come along and join resident blacksmith, Ralph Oalmann and Civil War Confederate soldier reenactor/park ranger, Mark Lyman. 
Fort Gaines is less than an hours drive from Mobile, Alabama.

Ralph Oalmannn met Lyman when he was a visitor to the park. Oalmann spoke so passionately about his craft and working at Fort Gaines, that it spurred Lyman to come and work at the park and delve in to living history.
