Join correspondent Tom Wilmer reporting from Florence, Alabama where he visits with legendary fashion designer Billy Reid as he shares tales from his incredible life journey.

Reid is one of only four American fashion designers who have won three or more Council of Fashion Designers or America’s prestigious CFDA Awards. In 2001 Billy Reid had just won the coveted CFDA Fashion Awards “Best New Designer” in June followed by his breakout fashion-week runway show on September 10th. Twenty-four hours later Reid’s world changed forever with the World Trade Center attack.

Hitting the reset button, Reid, who’s wife was from Florence, Alabama made the contrarian decision to set himself apart from the herd by crafting a distinctive marketing plan--creating “a unique sense of place” for Billy Reid endeavors—in the heart of downtown Florence, Alabama.

Underwriting support for Journeys of Discovery provided by Nashville's Big Back Yard economic initiative focused on rural communities in the southwest quarter of Tennessee and the Shoals Region of Northern Alabama.
