This week in Paso Robles, city staff are unveiling potential designs of a new district on Railroad Street. That’s a street near the downtown square, and Paso Robles is looking to spruce it up with maybe a mural, some lighting and railroad-themed features.
Warren Frace is the community development director for Paso Robles. He said in 2016, the city started working with the downtown Main Street organization on some small projects that would improve the downtown.
“We're looking for property owners, the public, [and] the businesses to give us some feedback in terms of whether they like the idea, or maybe they don't like the idea,” Frace said. “But we want to find out if we're on the right track with what we're thinking in terms of options for improving that little street.”
Frace said depending on the feedback, the next step is going to the Paso Robles planning commission and city council, to see if city officials will dedicated funding to the improvements.
“We have some new businesses that have been proposed along [Railroad Street] that fit with [the proposed upgrades],” Frace said. “We have a beer garden and we have a new brewery, so it already seems like naturally it's going in that direction, but it would be nice to get a design that everybody buys into that the city can start to put some investment into as well.”
