Local Sierra Club chapter's current work includes efforts on an act before Congress

The Santa Lucia Chapter of the Sierra Club has had an important presence on the Central Coast since 1962. The group has been influential  preserving local lands, including Montana de Oro State Park and the Santa Lucia Wilderness Area.  Marisa Waddell talks with the chapter’s director and a member of its executive committee about current efforts, like the Central Coast Heritage Protection Act now before Congress, and a campaign for a national marine sanctuary that would extend from Cambria to Santa Barbara.

As director of programming and content, Marisa Waddell coordinates the radio programming on KCBX and KCBX HD2 and leads efforts to develop content on the KCBX website and other digital platforms. She manages the KCBX on-air and newsroom staff, volunteer program hosts, and contributors. Marisa also hosts the Americana music program The Road Home, (Thurs. 6:30-8:00 p.m.) and contributes interviews and stories to the weekly KCBX radio magazine Issues and Ideas and to KCBX News.
