A landmark business in downtown San Luis Obispo is preparing to expand its operation to the outskirts of town.
SLO Brew now has plans for both a new downtown location, as well as an outdoor concert venue and brewery near the airport. The venue is called 'SLO Brew at the rock' named for a large rock on the 3.5 acre airport-adjacent location.
It's to be the manufacturing site of the company's craft beer and will have a tasting room, food and events. Hamish Marshall is the co-owner of SLO Brew and said that the area is up and coming.
"This is where we have land. There's no other land in San Luis Obispo, the borders of the city have already been set and they are within these areas," said Marshall.
"As far as business and residential growth, this will be the area that I definitely see as a happening area for San Luis Obispo."
The project will break ground Friday morning.
