Boating Safety Class
Boating Safety Class
United States Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering a one-day, beginner 8-hour Boat America class. The class will provide the novice recreational boater with knowledge needed to obtain the California Boater Card. The I.D. Card is required for all boat operators 50 years of age or younger after January 1, 2023.
One of the Coast Guard Auxiliary's cornerstone missions is to educate the public on recreational boating safety. The Boat America course is taught by experienced Coast Guard Auxiliary instructors who facilitate the sharing of experiences and relate courseware to our local area.
Recreational boating is fun and enjoyable. However, our waterways can become crowded at times and be a place of chaos and confusion. Not knowing or obeying the Navigation Rules or the nautical “Rules of the Road,” drinking alcohol or taking drugs while operating a boat, or choosing not to wear your life jacket, are all examples of human error or a lack of proper judgment. The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary promotes safe boating practices for recreational boaters.
