Celebrating Our LGBTQI+ Elders: Stories from the Central Coast

Celebrating Our LGBTQI+ Elders: Stories from the Central Coast

For nearly two years, this collaborative oral history project has been pairing student and youth interviewers with senior members of the queer community, yielding heartfelt stories of private lives and public action for the LGBTQI+ residents on the central coast. The event will begin with a panel discussion from the project participants, including selected video clips from the archive. The interviewees present will then be invited to share their perspectives on working with the Archive, and this will be followed by a general Q+A with the audience.
Wine and light refreshments will be provided courtesy of the SLO Art Museum. All state and county Covid protocols will be followed, and seating is limited. An ASL interpreter will be provided and the forum will be recorded and archived on video. Following the presentation, a no-host informal dinner gathering will be held at Taco Temple, 1575 Calle Joaquin, San Luis Obispo, from 6-8PM. Formerly a Howard Johnsons' in the 1980s, this space had been an unheralded meeting place for SLO's queer community. Space is limited, please RSVP to: sloqueerarchive@gmail.com
