Earth Day Centennial Creek Invasive Plant Removal
Earth Day Centennial Creek Invasive Plant Removal
Give back to the Earth by helping restore riparian habitat surrounding Centennial Creek. Centennial Creek is a tributary to the Salinas River, which is critical habitat for Southern Steelhead Trout, a local threatened species. Helping to restore the floodplain of Centennial Creek will improve water quality of the creek, create better habitat for local wildlife, and overall improve the health of the Upper Salinas River Watershed. We will be removing invasive plants, adding mulch around native plants, and cleaning trash out of the creek and culverts. Volunteers will learn about local native plants and stormwater management. No previous experience necessary.
Please bring sun/rain protection, water, long sleeves and pants, and closed-toe shoes. Tools, water, snacks and gloves will be provided. Please email sara.goel@ccc.ca.gov with any questions or concerns.
