Fifty years of California Raptor Natural History and Conservation Efforts

Fifty years of California Raptor Natural History and Conservation Efforts

For the past 50 years, Dr. Peter Bloom has been studying various California raptors, most notably Red-Tailed Hawks, Red-Shouldered Hawks, Golden Eagles, Ospreys, Turkey Vultures and Swainson’s Hawks. Much of Pete’s research involves banding, tagging, and occasionally transmitting these important predators, each with their own ecosystem needs. By analyzing their movements in Southern California and beyond, these studies have contributed valuable information to conservation efforts throughout California. Pete will share insights gained during these decades-long studies, including what he hopes to achieve with future research.
