Former KCBX Reporter Amanda Wernik graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a BS in Journalism. Amanda completed a data fellowship with the USC Center for Health Journalism in 2023. In July 2025, Amanda left KCBX to attend law school at UC Davis.

Yalina Harris began at KCBX in January of 2024 as an intern in our newsroom. Her talent on the mic led her to begin training as a substitute announcer from March 2024 to July 2025. You could occasionally hear her as a local host on Morning Edition, All Things Considered and Weekend Edition. Yalina also worked as a stringer for KCBX News from July 2024 to July 2025.

Monica Lopez is the news director at KCBX. She's an audio journalist who has worked as a journalist and educator in radio, tv and podcast.

Jacqueline Martin worked at KCBX from September 2024 through August 2025. She was originally brought on as a programming intern in February of 2024, then transitioned to become development associate, primarily to assist the development of our social media, websites, and newsletters. She also worked as the KCBX weekend host on air, providing continuity announcing on Saturdays and Sundays. In addition, Jacqueline volunteered on the marketing team for the KCBX Live Oak Music Festival, creating videos and editing reels and other content for the festival's social media.

Ryan joined KNAU's newsroom in 2013. He covers a broad range of stories from local, state and tribal politics to education, economy, energy and public lands issues, and frequently interviews internationally known and regional musicians. Ryan is an Edward R. Murrow Award winner and a frequent contributor to NPR and National Native News.
