Memorial Day weekend signals that summer is on the horizon. That means an influx of park visitors and the beginning of a temporary ban on fires at Lopez and Santa Margarita Lakes.
The Temporary Fire Restriction began on May 23 due to dry weather conditions.
Prohibited during the restrictions are wood or charcoal fires, propane open fires for non cooking purposes and outdoor patio heaters.
According to the county, visitors will still be allowed to use portable lanterns, gas stoves and barbecues in developed camping areas, but all devices must have a shut off valve that immediately extinguishes the flame.
