The Cal Poly Music Department will present its first-ever Cello Fest from Thursday through Sunday, May 1-4. The third event will take place at 7:30 pm on Friday, May 2 in Room 218 of the Davidson Music Center (No. 45): “Tides of Memory” Emiko Wong Junior Cello Recital — Wong, a music major, will perform rhapsodic works by Samuel Barber, Alberto Ginastera, Philip Glass and Robert Schumann, in collaboration with faculty member Janet Joichi. Wong is principal cellist of the Cal Poly Symphony, and recently performed the Schumann Cello Concerto with the group as a Cal Poly Solo Competition winner.
