The SLO County Jazz Federation is excited to present the two-time, Grammy-winning saxophonist Ernie Watts in a rare duo setting with the extraordinary pianist Bill Cunliffe. Ernie Watts has been featured in over 500 recordings with artists ranging from Cannonball Adderly, Marvin Gaye, Frank Zappa and Charlie Haden. He has been described a "one of the best saxophonist in the world".
Bill Cunliffe is also a Grammy winner and winner of the Thelonious Monk Piano Competition. He's played with Frank Sinatra, Freddie Hubbard, Benny Golson and James Moody among many others. He is an acclaimed arranger and educator and is currently a "distinguished faculty member" at Cal State Fullerton.
