Equal Pay for Equal Work

Each year, National Equal Pay Day reflects how far into the current year women must work to match what men earned in the previous year. Due to a gender gap in pay, it takes women an extra three months of wages to make up that 23-percent difference.

In San Luis Obispo County, ACTION reports nearly 10% of households only have a female wage earner. How does this pay gap negatively affect these families and what can be done to achieve economic equality for all? Host Kris Kington-Barker will be joined by Sharon Meyer and Mary Anne Rapuano, members of the Morro Bay Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW), as well as Dr. Jane Lehr, Associate Professor and Interim Chair of the Women's and Gender Studies Department at Cal Poly to discuss these important issues.
