AIDS/LifeCycle riders hit by vehicle in 2014, back on the route this year

Thousands of bicycle riders and support staff are passing through the Central Coast this week as part of the 14th annual AIDS LifeCycle. They’ve raised an estimated $15.5 million for services including HIV testing, medical care, and prevention campaigns.

Last year, four riders were unable to complete the journey after being hit by a vehicle on Highway 1 in Monterey County.

Cal Poly graduate and AIDS/LifeCycle participant John Pierson was one of those riders. He and each of the other riders who were hit didn’t let the crash get them down. They’re all back at it again this year, and among those peddling their way through the Central Coast.
