Every Student Deserves Healthy Food
Broadcast date: 11/10/16
The focus of the Farm to School movement is to improve the connections communities have with fresh, healthy food and local food producers by modifying food purchasing and education practices at school and education sites. This benefits students by providing them with access to healthy, local foods as well as educational opportunities in agriculture, food preparation, health and nutrition, all while supporting the local economy and contributing to active communities.
Join host Fred Munroe as he speaks with members of the San Luis Obispo County Farm to School Working Group Lisa Paniagua, Community Education Specialist & Coordinator for School Garden Sustainability, Teresa Tree Lees, Coordinator of Environmental Education at the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education with the CREEC (California Regional Environmental Education Community) Network, and Victoria Carranza, Education Director with One Cool Earth about their mission to get children involved in a local food and farm culture that nurtures us all.
