Two Salinas women found guilty of child abuse, false imprisonment

Two Salinas women accused of starving and chaining a young girl were found guilty Friday.

The Monterey County D-A's office says Christian Deanda and Eraca Craig were each found guilty on several counts of child abuse and false imprisonment, among other charges.

Last March authorities found the eight-year-old during a welfare check. A local hospital examined the girl and determined she was malnourished and potentially abused. The girl told authorities that she was chained and forced to sleep by the front door and that she was repeatedly beat and tortured.

Two younger boys lived in the home at the same time  and confirmed some of the abuse.

Craig could get up to 11 years in prison while Deanda could get life.

The women are scheduled to be sentenced by a local judge in July.
