Sarah McKenzie's new album is "Secrets of My Heart"

Australian singer-songwriter Sarah McKenzie visits with John Walsh of Pacific Standard Time to chat about her new album, "Secrets of My Heart," her life and studies in France and the U.S., and influences such as Michel Legrand, Cole Porter and Irving Berlin. She gives us a peek into her songwriting process, and we hear some tracks from her record.

Note: The excerpt of Cole  Porter's "Most Gentlemen Don't Like Love" is from Julie Wilson's album "Julie Wilson Sings the Cole Porter Songbook."

As director of programming and content, Marisa Waddell coordinates the radio programming on KCBX and KCBX HD2 and leads efforts to develop content on digital media. Marisa also hosts the Thursday night Americana music program The Road Home, and contributes interviews to the weekly KCBX radio magazine Issues and Ideas and to KCBX News. She manages the KCBX on-air staff, including the newsroom, music hosts, continuity announcers and on-air volunteers.
John Walsh hosts Pacific Standard Time, the KCBX show that features music from the Great American Songbook. John is a guy with a lot of interests -- from computers and teaching to gardening and cooking. And since 2015, the Great American Songbook has been somewhere near the top of his list of interests. He makes regular singing appearances with Cabaret805, a loose-knit group of singers from around SLO County who seek to create a popular Cabaret scene locally.
