A conversation with Grammy Award-winning conductor, Kent Nagano and his daughter Karin Kei Nagano. Nagano grew up in Morro Bay, California and graduated from U.C. Berkeley.
Nagano’s stellar career includes conducting stints with the Opera Company of Boston, the Berkeley Symphony, the London Symphony Orchestra, Music Director with the Ojai Music Festival, the Los Angeles Opera, and the Russian National Orchestra’s Conductor Collegium, Deutsches-Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and Music Director, Opéra National de Lyon. Since 2006 Nagano has been the Music Director for both the Montreal Symphony and the Hamburg State Opera. Karin Kei Nagano is a passionate pianist in addition to her current studies as an undergraduate architecture student at Yale.
