Ben Kerr

Ben Kerr is a trumpet player, radio host, ski instructor, and Central Coast performer with a music degree from Cal Poly. A dynamic presence in the San Luis Obispo music scene for years, Ben plays with a variety of local groups, including Brass Mash, and brings a musician’s ear to everything he does on and off the air.

Ben hosts The Jazz Current every Wednesday night from 10 p.m. to midnight on KCBX, sharing a wide-ranging mix of jazz that moves between classic recordings, deep cuts, and contemporary artists. His approach to the music is rooted in curiosity, history, and an excitement for the artists shaping its future.

You can also hear Ben on KCBX as a substitute local host during Morning Edition, All Things Considered, and other network programs. In the winter, he teaches skiing at June Mountain Ski Area.
