Honoring Acadians’ four-hundred-year history in Canada and their return from deportation, New Brunswick's Festival Acadien is one of country's premier cultural celebrations.

Annually more than 20,000 participants from across Canada and around the world arrive in the New Brunswick Canada, village of Caraquet to participate in the two-week long Festival Acadian (August 3-15 2025).

When French settlers first homesteaded Canada’s eastern shores (including Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island) more than 400 years ago they dubbed their new land Acadia.

Following the Expulsion of the Acadians by the British in the mid-1700s, many Acadians migrated to the American Colonies with some settling in Louisiana, where they became known as Cajuns.

Eventually quite a few Acadians returned to re-established their vibrant French culture throughout northern New Brunswick.

Today, the annual Festival Acadien pays homage to the Acadians’ four-hundred-year history in Canada and their return from deportation.
