Arroyo Grande signs deal with SLO County for dispatch services

The City of Arroyo Grande is joining forces with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Department in an effort to save money and increase safety.

City council members voted unanimously Tuesday to switch over to using the county's emergency services dispatch center. The three year contract will increase the number of dispatchers from one to no fewer than three or four at a time, and the new service will add the ability for callers to get instructions on what to do in life-threatening situations.

The city will save more than $175,000 per year under the deal. The transition starts Friday and will be fully implemented by the end of the month.
