Weekdays, 12:00 PM - 1:00 p.m.

One of public radio’s most iconic programs, Fresh Air is nationally recognized for setting the standard for long-form interviews, featuring insightful conversations with a wide range of leading figures from the worlds of politics, literature, film, television, music, and theater, with journalists covering the news and issues of the day.

Host Terry Gross is known for her detailed interview preparation and genuine curiosity, and for asking questions which lead to engaging insights about the lives and work of her interview guests. When President Obama presented Terry Gross with a National Humanities Medal in 2016, he cited her “artful probing of the human experience.” Co-Host Tonya Mosley also brings a wide range of knowledge and experience, a warm inviting presence, and an ability to make a deep connection with her guests.

Fresh Air has won two Peabody Awards. The 1994 Peabody citation recognized the program for its “probing questions, revelatory interviews and unusual insights.” In 2022 Fresh Air won another Peabody in the Institutional category. Terry Gross has received the 2007 “Literarian” Award for Lifetime Achievement from the National Book Association and the 2023 PEN/Faulkner “Literary Champion” award.

Fresh Air is produced at WHYY-FM in Philadelphia and broadcast nationally by NPR.
