- Correspondent, Tom Wilmer visits with Walter Heath about the Morro Bay In Bloom volunteer project. The program is founded on the concept that a small group of people applying 2 hours of effort every week can make a positive difference in their community. Morro Bay in Bloom is undertaking civic beautification projects and completing them in several two-hour sessions. The "In Bloom" program encompasses landscaping public spaces, urban forestry, community gardens, floral displays, promoting heritage awareness and community involvement.
- Another group of dedicated volunteers works hard at the long-term management and restoration of the Elfin Forest in Los Osos. That small nature preserve is home to more than 300 species of plants and animals. Marisa Waddell talks with Ron Rasmussen, the chair of Small Wilderness Area Preservation -- the group that saved and maintains the land.
