Journeys of Discovery: Rural California non-profit breaks cycle of Ugandan poverty

Katy Griffin
Executive Director, Katy Griffin visits Arua village in Uganda

Associate producer Juliana Erno-Pearce visits Zozu Project founder, Dr. Elaine Remy Lebens, and Executive Director, Katy Griffin, on their mission to break the cycle of extreme poverty in Arua, Uganda. Primary vectors include partnerships with local African leaders to provide education, economic opportunity and hope for the children and future of Uganda.

This non-profit organization was founded in 2015 by two California Central Coast physicians, Dr. Elaine Remy Lebens and Dr. Michael Lebens who have turned their dreams into reality with assistance from Central Coast community benefactors and supporters.

Underwriting support for Journeys of Discovery provided by Nashville's Big Back Yard economic initiative focused on rural communities in the southwest quarter of Tennessee and the Shoals Region of Northern Alabama.

You are invited to subscribe to the Lowell Thomas Award-winning podcast travel show, Journeys of Discovery with Tom Wilmer, featured on the NPR Podcast DirectoryiHeartRadioApple Podcast.
