People of Faith for Justice

Broadcast date: 3/26/2015

People of Faith for Justice are an interfaith alliance in San Luis Obispo County, dedicated to promoting peace and justice for all.

As an organization of clergy and laity from a variety of backgrounds, People of Faith for Justice express a commitment to justice in different ways, depending upon their faith. They believe that God wills shalom; peace, justice and wellbeing for all people, all nations, and for our planet. They believe that God’s shalom has firm scriptural grounding in the concepts of social righteousness, justice and peacemaking. And that scriptural justice is the societal expression of love. Together they believe that God's inclusive love is the basis for promoting compassion, generosity, non-violence, and respect for diversity.

The organization exists to create social change and works through a set of guiding principles, or pillars, seeking to influence public discourse and enhance the quality of life through ongoing education and strategic advocacy in the areas of economic justice, human and civil rights, environmental justice, and peace and non-violence.

Join host Fred Munroe as he speaks with guests from People of Faith for Justice, the Reverend Dr. Richard Kurrasch, of the Disciples of Christ, and also the Executive Director of People of Faith for Justice, Reverend Caroline Hall of St. Benedict's Episcopal Church in Los Osos, and Rabbi Janice Mehring of Congregation Ohr Tzafon in Atascadero as they discuss their work promoting social justice in San Luis Obispo County.
